Image search on B2B marketplaces returns dozens of sellers of the same product, often middlemen and with different quality. To reach the right factory you have to check who really makes it, compare samples and work out shipping and duties. With Dropfit you send the photo or link and within 24–48 hours you get the factory's quote, with price, production time and shipping costs.

Why is a photo not enough to find the factory?
- Many sellers use the same photo. Factories, wholesalers and resellers publish the same images: behind an identical picture there can be products of very different quality.
- Many "manufacturers" are middlemen. On B2B marketplaces plenty of suppliers present themselves as a factory but resell someone else's production, with an extra mark-up.
- The sample is not always the production. Quality has to be checked on the bulk order too, not only on the first piece.
- Minimum orders change from supplier to supplier, and are often designed for buyers of stock, not for sellers who want to test a product.
- China's domestic wholesale marketplaces are built for Chinese buyers: Chinese-language sites, Chinese payment systems and, as a rule, no shipping abroad.
Which tools search for a product by photo?
| Tool | What it shows you | What it doesn't tell you |
|---|---|---|
| Alibaba.com | Suppliers that sell for export, manufacturers and middlemen mixed together | Who really produces it, and at what quality |
| 1688.com | China's domestic wholesale offers, in Chinese | How to buy and ship from abroad |
| Google Lens | Shops and websites that already sell the product, with prices | Who makes it: it finds retailers, not factories |
These tools tell you who sells the product and roughly at what price. They don't tell you who makes it, at what quality, and what it really costs to get it to your customer.
How do you recognise a real factory?
- "Verified Supplier" on Alibaba: according to Alibaba, the company was inspected by independent bodies such as SGS, Intertek or TÜV Rheinland, and the report states whether it is a trading company, a manufacturer or both. It confirms the business exists; it doesn't guarantee product quality or delivery times. "Gold Supplier" is a paid membership with no third-party check.
- Business licence: on China's official company registry (gsxt.gov.cn) a factory's business scope usually includes manufacturing wording. It is a weak signal, because middlemen can register the same wording.
- The checks that really work are a factory audit, a video call or a visit to the production line, and the manufacturer's name on the product certificates.
These checks take time, someone on the ground in China and the language. It is exactly the work a sourcing agent does for you.

Frequently asked questions
Can I find the exact factory from a single photo?
Usually not: you find several sellers of the same or a similar product, often middlemen. You need to check who really makes it and compare a sample. With Dropfit you send the photo and we do it for you.
Is Google Lens enough to find a supplier?
No. Google Lens shows shops and websites that use the image, so it tells you who already sells the product, not who makes it.
What does an Alibaba Verified Supplier badge guarantee?
That independent inspectors checked the company, its production capability and its processes, and recorded whether it is a manufacturer or a trading company. According to Alibaba, it does not guarantee product quality or on-time delivery.
How long does Dropfit take to quote from a photo?
Between 24 and 48 hours. The quote includes the unit price, the production time and the shipping costs.
Do I need a minimum order to work with Dropfit?
No. You can start with small quantities to test a product before you scale it.
